My Great Grandma Mary died yesturday morning and I have been thinking about what she left with me. I saw her about two weeks ago and she was as happy and cheerful as ever! There are several little moments in life that seem quite insignificant at that moment; but for some reason make a little spot in my momory and randomly come back to me. One of those moments is when my Grandma Mary passed on a little bit of the wisdom she had attained in her life of 98 years. She told me that we create our own happiness. I know that it doesn't sound like a profound secret of life, but for some reason that moment has stuck with me. At the time, I was living just a few miles from her, working as a youth corrections counselor and waitressing at nights. Occasionally, on a day off, I would spend a few hours at her home helping her with whatever project or job she had in mind for me. One day we were cleaning out closets when she found some of grandpa's old clothes. Grandpa had died when I was only 7yrs old so she had been without him for a long time. As she shared some of her memories of him and their life, she passed on to me more than she knew. When we were done, she smiled and gave me some of the best advice I've ever received...."Dear :), We create our own happiness"!

98 years old, that's incredible. I'm glad you have a picture of the two of you together and you were able to see her recently. It makes you grateful for the times you had together.

Ok, my sweet girl...this made me cry! She was a great lady and she left us such a wonderful legacy and example to follow. She loved you and your family so much...I am grateful that your children had the chance to know her. It's hard to believe she is really gone...but oh what a happy reunion with Grandpa that must have been!
