I just checked my email and found this....
Congratulations! You have been selected to run the 2008 St. George Marathon.
We are pleased to have you join us for our 32nd annual race and wish you the
very best in your training.
Yikes! Who signed me up for that?!?! Part of me is thinking...Have mercy! What have I gotten myself into! The other half of me- the half that is crazy enough to get my butt out of bed at the crack of dawn when it's freezing outside (even in MAY) and run hills with the greatest friends in the world, is so EXCITED!!!
I am usually good at learning my lesson!!I have a pretty good memory of my last experience with 26.2... It involved a broken foot and some serious tummy issues...so super fun, let me tell you! Actually, I realized a little ways into it that things were not going to go how I planned. I really wanted to qualify for Boston and felt that I could have had a shot at it. The further I got down the course, the more the "GOAL" changed. What a lame analogy of how life goes :).
About mile 22 this man in front of me stopped and flagged a car down...are you kidding me! Why in the world would somebody quit with just a few miles left!! I was struggling to even catch my breath (i have asthma), but decided there was no way I was done! I was just so happy to finish and do it in a decent time!
There is so much in life I have no control over! It's all about me deciding beforehand that it's never worth giving in and it's always worth finishing!
